Mr Always Forever A Second Chance Secret Baby Romance Ashlee Price 9781983748097 Books Reviews
- Funny story- I actually read this on Valentine's Day. It just so happen that this book has a Valentine's Day "special".
I loved how Conner reacted! Absolutely loved it. Such a warm surprise. I'm on the fence about the beginning. It seemed kind of fuzzy. But, I love how Ingrid hated Conner. And she showed it. I think I'd be a bit more jaded. But that's her choice. I really enjoyed the love/hate relationship. It was smoke'n hot once it got going.
I liked the idea of the "danger". But it was coming up short. There's something missing. I can't quite put my finger on it. But it's a nice addition.
The only real problem was the extras. It was 20 hours worth. I didn't even try. It was a bit much. - This was a great something different story, a mix between a love story and a thriller. Ingrid and Conner are journalists who meet at a Valentine's party when they are both chasing the same story even though they don't know it. When their cover is almost blown they both have to join in the "festivities" This results in a surprise for Ingrid and a great article for Conner who takes advantage of finding Ingrid's tiny camera and using the pictures to write his story.
They meet years later when they are both called to an interview for a new job. Despite their history they are still attracted to each other though neither wants to admit it and Conner cannot understand why Ingrid is still so angry with him, until her secret is revealed to him.
What follows is a great story as they get to know each other again and realise they are in love. However evil lurks in the background and they have to overcome it together.
This was an "unable to put it down" book and I think it was one of Ashlee's best! If you are looking for something a little different check this one out! - I’m not ashamed to admit it. I totally picked this book up because the cover was just. so. gorgeous. Considering my kindle library contains a veritable sea of six-packs and mounds of muscles, it seems almost amusing that a “simple†face shot would become my favorite cover of the year thus far. But dang, if it isn’t just that lickable.
Just like the cover, this story stands out as well. It’s unique, passionate, and hot. It starts out with lusty recklessness and doesn’t take a breather until its HEA. Main characters Ingrid and Conner are easy to become engaged with. Both are smart and driven. But Conner’s sense of integrity seems to be a bit umm… less rigid than Ingrid’s. Conner will do whatever it takes to get the story, including stealing it from another journalist (like Ingrid), or sleeping with strangers (again, like Ingrid). Yep. He’s a real prize.
Ingrid’s sense of morals is light-years different than Conner’s, and that’s really good. Because she may not have taken him home after their unexpected one night stand, but she definitely got the big prize that night, in the form of their daughter.
Now, years later, Conner and Ingrid find themselves face to face in competition over a new job. Interestingly, the competition involves finding and writing about the best love story. Surprises and suspense become the norm for these two as they begin their research. But in the midst of this mayhem, several beautiful love stories emerge that both Ingrid and Conner could each discover valuable truths from if only they would take a moment to listen with their hearts.
This story covers it all from suspense to pure comedy. The characters are fun and real; some are genuine or quirky, others are annoying, naïve, or totally disgusting. The growth of both Ingrid and Conner as individuals over the years, and also together, is very satisfying. As for the passion between the two of them? Oh yeah, it’s seriously steamy. You’ll need windshield wipers on that e-reader to keep wiping the steam off the glass… Readers may want to note that a couple of scenes take place in BDSM clubs, although the scenes are short and mild. - Ingrid is a journalist working on a story and has to go on assignment to a swank masked Valentine Party for research. She is drawn to a hot masked guy and they hook up. He leaves and she realizes that her camera is missing. The next thing she knows her story and pictures are in the paper, someone stole her article and pictures. She goes to work and finds out who stole her article Connor. They both work there but doesn’t know each other. She lets him have it and leaves. Fast forward seven years and they run into each other again and find out they are working on the same story. As he gathers info he finds out that Ingrid has a daughter that’s six years old. Ingrid never told him that she got pregnant and wants nothing to do with him. Can he break through her walls that she put around her and get her to forgive him and give him a chance to know his daughter. Will the walls come down and could they get a HEA? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
- It is my second read by Ashlee Price, and still, I was hooked like her previous one, Bossman’s list.
The storyline is completely different, as for the characters.
I liked Connor, he was a kind of a jerk with Ingrid at the beginning, but he quickly changed for his daughter first and her too. It was nice there was no big drama when he understood Alexa is his, he simply wanted to be present now in her life.
Ingrid is a great woman, she did the best she could for her daughter, and it is seems she did well as we can see how smart Alexa is.
They rekindled thanks to their kid, which gives them the opportunity to learn more about each other, and even work together.
Of course, they will have to face many bumps and dents but it will make them stronger, and by adding crime and murder, the author heightened the plot.
When their life is threatened, will it clear their eyes and make them realize of what is really important.
A good book with some suspense and two flawed persons who will try to overcome their past issues.
I read it with KU but purchased it on .fr
