Notespeller for Piano Book 1 Hal Leonard Student Piano Library Karen Harrington 9780634004773 Books Reviews
- I am a piano teacher and This is a great beginner book. It works well with young players 5-8 and very good at helping hem learn. The reason for 4 stars is because it's very repetitive and while that is good it doesn't give much description like other theory books. So it is not a stand alone book and would bed to be used with me to explain concepts rather than an at home workbook
- My son's piano teacher asked me to buy the Notespeller series to accompany his lessons. It is an opportunity for him to reinforce his lessons without actually sitting at the piano. The books focus on learning to read music - it's less intrument-specific and instead strengthens his ability to master the music itself. The activities on each page could be called "games" I guess, but they are more like kindergarten-level worksheets where you fill in the blank, circle the correct answer, etc. My 6-year-old son described the work as "interesting" and I would classify it as engaging. This book 1 is a great introduction, and in my opinion, and outstanding companion to the beginning piano player's instruction. Can't go wrong!
- This is a great item for the beginning piano player. I purchased this for myself, 64 years young, as I started learning piano in January 2013. I was trying to teach myself, not working too well, but this is helping a great deal. I would suggest this for any youngster beginning piano lessons. Colorful, engaging and a great learning too to go along with lessons.
- All the notations is in British English terms. If you are getting this book, make sure it is not Notespeller for piano 1 international.
- The illustrations and color in this notespeller make it a very engaging workbook for young musicians. My seven-year-old son loves it, and is making good progress with his notespelling thanks to this book.
- very good supplemental book for beginners.
- This is very similar to the theory book. A few more games/actions to do that follow the Piano Lesson book to build on new processes that are introduced. A good addition to the theory book to reinforce everything.
- I recently gave in to a friend's plea to teach piano to her little one. Piano is not my main instrument and I haven't taught it for years. My internet hunt brought me to this Hal Leonard series. It's a joy to teach. My little student says piano is his favorite thing!
